About Us
Our mission is to improve cardiac health by advancing the understanding of early disease mechanisms in both inherited and acquired forms of heart disease. Through this knowledge, we aim to develop targeted cardiotherapeutic and preventative strategies that are tailored to individual patient needs.
The CRC1550 “Molecular Circuits of Heart Disease” is a joint research initiative supported through the Collaborative Research Centres funding program of the German Research Foundation (DFG).
Carried out at Heidelberg University, our consortium is composed of a cross-disciplinary team (comprised of clinician scientists with a cardiology background, pharmacologists, molecular biologists, geneticists, developmental biologists and data scientists), and unites forces with other leading research institutions, including Medical Faculty Heidelberg, Medical Faculty Mannheim, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), and the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ), to advance understanding in cardiovascular disease mechanisms and improve the care of individual heart patients.
